Long trek

I gave Basil some peas the other day; he loved them!  I had placed them in the food dish on top of his cage; you can see it here (the gray dish):
Isn't that rainbow feather sticking out just amazingly beautiful?

I wish I would have gotten his walk on video -- he decided that he needed to eat his peas on his door instead of at the dish, so he walked all the way down while having to manage an unwieldy pea pod.

Looks like it was worth it:
And, since I got a picture of him without being attacked (cameras still provoke him), here's an unrelated-but-not-worthy-of-its-own-post picture of Beeps eating a cashew:

Keeping cool

Rocky and Stella are working on ways to beat the heat.

One of Rocky's favorite places to sit is on the arm of the couch, in the way of the air filter's fan.  Over the weekend, we had a large fan in the kitchen, so Thomas offered him a chance to get an even bigger breeze.  He seemed to enjoy himself.  Notice that I am close and his wings aren't even out to threaten me!
Later, Thomas was getting something out of the freezer.  As usual, Stella flew over to perch on the open door; however, she then took the unusual step of entering the freezer!  We suspect it was not the walnuts or the cool that called to her, but the prospect of nesting in a dark, confined place, as she started scratching right after I took this picture but before Thomas could remove her.
I would think a freezer would not be the best place to nest -- it would be hard to keep the eggs warm enough to hatch, but I am not a parrot, so what do I know.

Rocky carrier

When Rocky displays body language indicating he will bite us if we get too close (this is all the time for me and occasionally for Thomas), we listen to him so we don't get bit!

I always keep a stick with me so I can move him around; Thomas tends to be a bit more creative as he's not as compulsive as I am about having a stick handy.

Earlier this week, Rocky had started to follow Thomas upstairs.  However, he stopped halfway up the stairs and then started posturing.  All of the sticks were on the first level.  Thomas could have asked me to get Rocky, but instead he improvised:
Rocky enjoyed his ride on the laundry express.

The greys think about eating olives

Thomas has been eating a lot of olives lately, which intrigues the greys.  They were playing with the bowl yesterday and pretending to eat them, though I don't think they even actually licked them.
However, earlier this week, Thomas was eating olives and Rocky came over to him.  He offered the container to Rocky, who took a drink, apparently thinking it was water.

Rocky was not happy about his accidental olive-water intake!  He shook his head, pinned his eyes, and finally ran away to the safety of the living room.  Unfortunately, I didn't get this on camera, and attempts to replicate this have been unsuccessful.  He learned his lesson!

Brian pretends to eat yogurt

Earlier this week, I was eating yogurt with peaches (all the peaches have now been eaten!)  Brian came over and started pretending to eat my breakfast through the clear bowl.
I did offer him some, but he declined.  He just wanted to look at me though the bowl and pretend to eat.
This one almost looks like it could be an abstract painting:
He's now started to pretend to eat the outside of my bowl, even when it isn't see-through.  Of course, then I can't get decent pictures!
